The Association of Anglican Women

The Association of Anglican Women (AAW) was formed in 1969 and is a New Zealand wide organisation including Polynesia with over 5,000 members.

The Aims are:

1. To unite in prayer and participate in the Mission of the Church.
2. To promote, nurture and safeguard Christian Family Life.

In the Auckland Diocese there are 28 Groups and 385 members from Kaitaia in the north to Mauku in the south and Ngatea to the east and 7 Lone Members. We offer a wide variety of events during the year e.g. Area Days, Quiet Days, Overseas and Outreach and Social Concerns Days and once a year AAW has an “Escape” at Vaughan Park Retreat and Conference Centre where we spend time in study, fun, fellowship and worship. Groups have once a month meetings in their own Parishes and offer interesting programmes along with Christian support, friendship and fun.

Overseas and Outreach Dept. supports projects both at home in New Zealand and Overseas through donations given by members, and we also have an Emergency Fund for one off donations in times of disaster.

AAW is affiliated to National Council of Women and this gives our women the opportunity to work for positive change and the lobbying of Government, on many subjects which effect women and children through our NCW Representatives and the work of our Social Concerns Mission.

AAW has its own magazine which is produced in the home Diocese of the current NZ President. It contains articles of interest, information about O&O and Social Concerns and Mother’s Union, and a Prayer and Resource Page.
